Everything You Need To Know About The Most Awaited Suzuki Swift 2017

December 27, 2016 – The most awaited All New Suzuki Swift 2017 has made its world debut in Japan. For 2017, The new Swift receives significant exterior updates along with a revamped interior. 



In Japan, the hatchback will go on sale on 4th January, while its India launch will take place towards the end of 2017. The Japanese-spec Swift will come with three powertrain options – a 1.2-litre K12C petrol, a 1.0-litre Boosterjet and a 1.2-litre Dualjet diesel with SHVS system.

Dimensions of the new Swift measure 3,840mm in length, 1,695mm in width and 1,500mm in height. Compared to the current generation, the updated model is 10mm shorter and 30mm taller. The hatchback’s wheelbase has been increased by 20mm, which is now 2,450mm. While the Japanese-spec model comes with a ground clearance of 120mm, the India-spec model is likely to have around 170mm of ground clearance. The hatchback has a fuel tank capacity of 37-litres.

"Swift 2017 Exterior"
As mentioned earlier, the new Suzuki Swift 2017 shares its platform with the Baleno. This lightweight architecture, made-up of 41% of tensile steel, makes the new Swift more robust and lighter than the existing one. This aluminium-mix platform could shed off its weight up to 100 kg, and make its chassis stiffer and provide better crash protection. The new Maruti Swift 2017’s rear door handles will be positioned on the C-Pillar.
Other design changes include a hexagonal mesh grille with chrome garnish and a contrasting red embellisher, projector headlamps, fog lamps, diamond cut alloy rims, turn indicators integrated in ORVM, a floating roofline and all-new wraparound tail-lights. In terms of dimensions, the 2017 Swift is longer and wider than the current-generation model. With respect to safety, the Swift’s new model will be more promising than the current version.

Comprehensive updates have been made inside the cabin. The Swift 2017 features a new infotainment system integrated on dashboard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration compatibility. The car also gets an all new three spoke steering wheel with mounted telephone and audio controls, new HVAC controls with circular vents positioned at the centre, automatic climate control with integrated digital displays and two-pod instrument dials with a large MID. Aforementioned features makes the new Swift more comfortable and premium than before.


Features such as automatic headlamps, radar brake support and curtain airbags are reserved for the top-spec model. What adds more to its sporty appeal is contrasting trim on dashboard, door panels and floor console.  The Japanese spec model comes with a host of high-end safety and security features like seven airbags, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic BrakeForce Distribution), reverse parking camera and sensors, ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) and hill hold assist.
